LOS OSOS – A burglar in Los Osos was apprehended while still wearing the black ski mask he sported during his burglary of a nearby hardware store minutes earlier. On October 17 a witness at a business in the 1000 block of Los Osos Valley Road alerted the police of a break in at neighboring business.

The caller heard glass breaking at the Miner’s Ace Hardware Store. Then he saw a man wearing a black ski mask enter the hardware store.

The suspect then left the area in a Ford SUV. Responding deputies quickly located the suspect vehicle in a restaurant parking lot in the 900 block of Los Osos Valley Road.

Above all, the driver still wore the black ski mask. Deputies arrested 18-year-old Calvin Paul Anthony Latorella.

Investigation also linked Latorella to two other burglaries –

  • Kuma Sushi in the 2000 block of 10th Street;
  • Round Table Pizza in the 1000 block of Los Osos Valley Road;
  • and one attempted burglary at the Sea Pines Golf Shop in the 1900 block of Solano Street.

The Ford SUV Latorella drove was also stolen. He faces charges for burglary, attempted burglary, felony auto theft and possession of a deadly weapon (lead sap).

Investigators identified and arrested Latorella’s accomplice – 18-year-old Kai Keoni Ribeira. His charges are burglary and attempted burglary.
