EMERYVILLE — Supervised probation is no deterrence for some bad guys. Officers caught one such fellow with an illegal sawed-off rifle on October 10. It was fully loaded with several high-capacity magazines.

Not surprisingly, officers regularly patrol this area. An officer passing by conducted an investigative stop on the driver that he saw leaving from the car.

While speaking with him, the officer learned he didn’t have a driver’s license. Moreover, the man was a convict on probation, associated with a lengthy list of robberies and assaults.

During a probationary search, the officer found a sawed-off rifle loaded with multiple high-capacity magazines inside the man’s car.

Finally, police arrested the man identified as Dajon L. Ford, a 22-year-old resident of Oakland. Ford remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail in lieu of $135,000 bond. He faces felony charges for several firearms violations, in addition to probation violations. His arraignment is October 12.
