PALM SPRINGS – Someone used pepper spray to steal a cell phone on August 9.  A call came in from the 100 block of S. Palm Canyon about a large fight.

At first law enforcement thought it was an assault with a deadly weapon.  They soon discovered that the stabbing that was initially reported didn’t really happen.

However, they did instead identify a suspect – 33-year-old Dylon Cooke – who pepper sprayed someone to steal their phone.

Officers soon arrested Cooke, who lied about his identity at first. He probably lied because he was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).

His charges are robbery, assault with a chemical, injury of a child, providing false ID to police and parole violation.

“Anyone with information regarding this investigation, please call contact PSPD 760-323- 8115. You can also make anonymous crime tips through Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867.”
