HIGHLAND – After recklessly driving and assaulting others, Juan Ramon Ramos’s shooting ends in his death.

On July 22 near 4:00 p.m. SBCSD received a reckless driver call from Olive and 13th Streets.  Deputies spotted a white Crown Victoria speeding by and running red lights.

Ramos did not stop when told to do so by deputies. However, his route soon returned to where it had started. In addition, Ramos had a box cutter in his hand.

First of all, deputies struck Ramos with bean bags and then with a Taser. These did not stop him.  Ramos “jumped a fence and approached a group of people with the box cutter in his hand.”

A deputy, fearing for the safety of the citizens Ramos approached, fired a shot at him, striking him. Finally, Ramos died at 5:30 p.m.
