CHICO – Someone called 911 on May 30 concerning loud bangs they heard near The Meadows Apartments on Fremont Street.

A responding officer encountered an armed male, who complied with the officer’s commands to surrender.  22-year-old Alexander Valdovinos “discharged his weapon in a grossly negligent manner.”

Officers therefore searched Valdovinos’ apartment, with a search warrant.  Inside they found multiple firearms, including an AR-15 and an AR-10.

Also, they found “six illegal high capacity (30 rounds) magazine. 6.5 ounces of Ecstasy and $5,000.

In addition, they named 22-year-old Cameron Power as another person implicated in the seizure of these items. Police obtained a warrant for his arrest and, as a result, Power turned himself in on June 18.

The pair “face multiple weapons and narcotics violations.”
