EL DORADO – 35-year-old Adam E. Lara recently pled no contest to charges stemming from an incident on February 2.

On that fateful night, Lara drifted into oncoming traffic on Mother Lode Drive. He struck a Toyota Celica, killing its passenger, Ashleigh Harrison, and injuring its driver.

On scene, Lara’s blood alcohol content registered at .19%, over twice the legal limit. He also had a prior DUI conviction.

The suspect, from Rescue, made his plea to a charge of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Finally, Lara will receive his sentence on July 7.  The EDC DA’s press release says “The anticipated sentence for the plea is 11 years in State Prison.”
