Marijuana is Legal, but Not Like This

CLEARLAKE – Marijuana is legal under legal parameters in California, but not grow sites like the CPD recently discovered.

On June 5 the Investigations Unit came to the 14300 block of Woodland Drive with a search warrant.  A report came in concerning a possible illegal grow site.

Authorities are familiar with this address, with investigations in 2015 and 2016.  This time they discovered 503 growing marijuana plants.

They also seized “indicia, chemicals and materials associated with an illegal cultivation.” 60-year-old Jose Ceja Lupian met officers and went with them to custody. He already had an active warrant out for his arrest.

In addition, the CPD raided another illegal site on June 7 in the 3900 block of Manchester Avenue.  There they found 1,269 growing marijuana plants and 9 processed pounds of the drug.

At this site 50-year-old Miguel Maciel Garcia joined them for a ride to jail.

The CPD reminds us that Proposition 64 allows no more than six growing marijuana plants inside a residence.
