Unsuccessful Fraudulent Credit Card Purchase at Zumiez

CHICO – A Zumiez employee called the CPD on Monday evening after three people tried to make a fraudulent credit card purchase. After their unsuccessful attempt, one of the suspects assaulted the employee.

First of all, the victim gave responding police a description of the suspects and their vehicle. Consequently, an officer armed with this information soon spotted the car and stopped it on Highway 99 near Neal Road.

Police arrested Antonio Spruell after the witness identified him. Spruell had tried to buy $900 worth of merchandise from the Chico Zumiez.

Even more, a subsequent search brought out $1,400 worth of merchandise from the Yuba City Zumiez.

Spruell’s charges include attempted fraudulent use of an access card and possession of stolen property.
