Elder abuse call yields weapons cache, samurai swords

PALM DESERT  – Police investigating a possible elder abuse incident arrested a parolee for possession of weapons that included firearms and two samurai swords.

Palm Desert Police and Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies on May 19 arrested Johnathan Domenici, 24, and Kimberly Ray, 22. Their charges include weapons violations, criminal threats, and elder abuse.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the incident began on May 18 when Palm Desert police investigated allegations of elder abuse.  The source of the report was a residence on the 73-800 block of Mondrain Place in Palm Desert. A subsequent investigation revealed that a parolee living at the residence had firearms.

On May 17, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau served a search warrant at the residence. As a result, they seized two firearms, ammunition, and two samurai swords. Both Domenici and Ray were taken into custody without incident and booked into the county jail in Indio.
