Attempted Murder in Sonora on Sunday Afternoon

TUOLUMNE – On Sunday afternoon an attempted homicide occurred in Sonora. A concerned resident called the police concerning an argument they overheard nearby, accompanied by gunshots.

Responding deputies found a 63-year-old man in front a of a house in the 21000 block of Crestview Drive suffering from “multiple gunshot wounds.” The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Modesto.

The shooter, who also lives at the home in Sonora,  was identified as 54-year-old Karen Caster.  She was arrested for  “attempted murder and inflicting injury on a spouse or cohabitant.” Authorities say they are in the process of investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting.

Records show that Caster was previously arrested in July of 2014 for spousal battery and, two weeks later, on a warrant.
