Business Burglar shot at by Owner

BAKERSFIELD – On Thursday evening a KCSO deputy was out near South Chester and Ming Avenues when he heard a gunshot.

As he went towards the vicinity of where he had heard the shot, he came upon 48-year-old Peter Marquez, who was wearing a mask. The deputy detained Marquez to further investigate the situation.

Deputies soon learned that Marques had broken into a business in the 1800 block of South Chester Avenue.  The owner of the business also happened to be in the business at the same time, and fired one shot at Marquez, who then fled into the care of the arriving deputy.

Marquez was charged with burglary and resisting arrest. No charges are being brought against the business owner. The one bullet he fired was recovered and no one was injured in this incident.

The KCSO says, ‘Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at (661) 861-3110. Case number 2018-00071823″
