LOS ANGELES – After being convicted of murder, 39-year-old Baldwin Park resident Andy Yalau Chen was sentenced on Tuesday to 25 years to life in prison. His conviction came down on March 23.

On March 21, 2016 a resident in Monterey Park called the police to report a foul odor coming out of a car that was parked at her home.

In the trunk of the car, police found Chinese national Min Gu deceased and decomposing. He had suffered two gunshot wounds.

An investigation concluded that Chen was one of the last people seen with Gu.  A search warrant at Chen’s home showed Gu’s blood “under the floorboards of the house and two bullet casings.”

Chen’s home housed a marijuana grow, and the investigation revealed that Gu had threatened to expose Chen if he did not repay money Chen had borrowed.
