Murder Charge in Boyfriend’s Death

CANOGA PARK – On March 5 21-year-old Jose Mendoza lost his life after being shot once in the upper torso while in a parking lot near The Rabbit Hole in the 22000 block of Roscoe Boulevard.

The shooter was his girlfriend, 25-year-old Reyanna Villareal.

On Friday she was charged with one count of murder with the special allegation that she used a handgun in the commission of the crime.

Villareal pleaded not guilty and has a bail of $3 million.  She will return to court on May 18.

If convicted, she faces up to 40 years to life in prison.
