3-Year-Old Mauled by Family’s Pit Bull

NORTH EDWARDS – A census-designated place, North Edwards is located halfway between Bakersfield and Barstow, with a population of 1,000.

On Wednesday afternoon while his mother was asleep at their home on the 13000 block of Davenport, a 3-year-old boy fell out of his open window and was mauled by a pit bull, causing severe facial injuries.

As mom slept, “a good Samaritan neighbor heard the attack and responded, tore down a portion of chain link fence and rescued the child.”

As authorities investigated the incident, they discovered a hazardously filthy set of living conditions. CPS was called in and removed an 8-month-old child from the house. The dog was also removed by Animal Control.

The child’s mother, 22-year-old Samatha Meyers, and 25-year-old Nathan Albey were arrested for felony child endangerment.
