WALNUT CREEK — A security guard suspected of killing a co-worker at a construction site on the evening of March 8 was arrested and booked in jail, after being treated for minor injuries.

Police received a report of a disturbance shortly before 7 p.m. at the Vaya Apartments complex under construction at 1800 Lacassie Avenue.
Responding officers arrived to find 60-year-old Harry E. Swayne of San Pablo, lying on the ground near death, suffering from severe head injuries. Medics were unable to save Swayne’s life, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigating police officers and detectives determined that the victim and his suspected attacker knew each other; they both worked as security guards at the same construction site.

The suspect, 34-year-old Concord resident Hakim Madjour, was located near the victim and detained for questioning before he was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Police said evidence gathered from the scene indicates that Madjour violently and unexpectedly attacked Swayne, resulting in his death shortly afterward.

A weapon suspected of being used to bludgeon Swayne, a large metal pole was recovered at the crime scene, along with other unspecified evidence.

Madjour is being held in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of murder. Bond for his release was set at $1 million.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Walnut Creek Police Department at 925-256-3553.
