ELK RIVER // Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a 36-year-old man on possession charges after a report of a suspicious vehicle in a local gated community.

On February 8th just before 6:30 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the 500 block of Tanglewood Drive to investigate a report from a resident who claimed a suspicious truck was parked in their driveway. They happened to arrive just as the vehicle was trying to leave and conducted a stop in order to detain the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Ryan Michael McNeil.

Deputies then searched the vehicle and discovered four firearms, two of them loaded, as well as processed marijuana and stolen property connected to burglaries across Humboldt County. Four grams of methamphetamine were also found on McNeil’s person.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with grand theft, carrying a loaded firearm in public, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and buying or receiving stolen property.
