HOLLISTER // Police have charged a 15-year-old juvenile with felony animal cruelty after discovering a Snapchat video showing him forcefully throwing a puppy to the ground.

On January 30th, officers with Sunnyvale Animal Control alerted Hollister Animal Care and Services of a report they’d received alleging animal cruelty by the juvenile, who is shown in a Snapchat video posing with a toy breed dog in his arms before throwing it to the ground approximately 10 feet away.

Officers with Hollister Animal Care and Services were able to verify the juvenile’s identity and the location of his residence in Hollister. Animal Control Officers then met him there on February 1st, taking custody of the dog — whose name is Bella — and taking her to a veterinarian for a health examination. She has since been relocated to the Hollister Animal Shelter.

On February 3rd, the juvenile was taken into custody and booked into the San Benito County Juvenile Hall on charges of felony animal cruelty.
