BARSTOW — On Friday evening, an officer with the BPD spotted a black Dodge SUV that had illegally tinted windows, and so he stopped the vehicle and its occupants – the driver, 30-year-old Jamal Taylor and the passenger, 31-year-old Peter Clayton.

Though driving, Taylor was unlicensed, as well as a suspect in a weapons investigation. The officer questioned him about the possession of a weapon and Taylor admitted to having a Ruger .22 caliber rifle at his home on the 700 block of Higgins Road.

The suspect was a felon and was forbidden to possess a firearm.  For his part, Clayton had an outstanding warrant out on him and was arrested.

The arresting officer then took Taylor to his home to seize the rifle.

Taylor was booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm.  Clayton was booked for an outstanding domestic violence warrant.
