Man’s Body Found in Northeast Fresno

Fresno resident Jonathan Mahaffey was found unresponsive behind the Round Table Pizza on 5795 North First Street on Wednesday, January 17th.

A witness spotted Mahaffey lying on the pavement, possibly injured, and alerted police. When officers and EMS personnel arrived they attempted to revive Mahaffey but he had passed.

A suspicious injury on the upper body of the 57-year old was noticed by the Homicide Unit and Fresno County Deputy Coroner who were at the scene. Once transported to the coroner’s office, an x-ray revealed Mahaffey had been shot.

At this time, police do not suspect this was gang related.
