Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department discovers illegal marijuana grow; 2 arrested

VALLEY SPRINGS // The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two in connection to an illegal marijuana grow discovered at a home in Valley Springs.

On January 10th, members of the Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team arrived on the 8000 block of Baldwin Street with a search warrant, having developed information alleging that an illegal grow-op had been set up.

Officials made their way into the home and discovered the whole place had been outfitted for marijuana cultivation, with a total of 1,447 plants seized.

Additionally, two occupants were found and arrested at the home. They are identified as 52-year-old Wenhai Yang and 52-year-old Xiugin Yang, who are both charged with illegal marijuana cultivation, maintaining a place for the purpose of unlawfully selling, giving away, or using any controlled substance, and criminal conspiracy.

They are both housed at the Calaveras County Jail on $30,000 bond.
