Not Guilty Plea in New Year’s Day DUI Crash

LOS ANGELES — On New Year’s Day, a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL450 rear ended another vehicle near Hollywood Boulevard and then fled the scene, hitting a 2007 Toyota Prius.

The Prius was in service as an Uber car with four passengers and all five occupants of the car were taken to the hospital for injuries. The injuries to the four passengers was described as “critical.”

37-year-old Michael Steward Forno was arrested and charged with DUI, hit and run resulting in injury, and hit and run resulting in property damage. His charges include the special allegation of injuring more than one victim.

On Thursday, Forno pleaded not guilty to the charges.  He will attend a preliminary hearing on January 17th. With his bail set at $330,000, Forno faces up to 14 years in prison if he is found guilty.
