SANTA ROSA // Police are investigating a road rage shooting that occurred in the area of Montecito and Mission Boulevards on January 1st, during which the assailant opened fire on the victim’s vehicle.

Just before 9 PM, police spoke with the victim and learned that he’d been driving in the area of Calistoga Road and Dupont Drive when a second driver began tailgating him.

The victim proceeded northbound on Calistoga, the suspect tailgating him all the way and reportedly brandishing a gun.

Several attempts to ditch the assailant on side streets proved ineffective. When they reached the area of Montecito and Mission Boulevards, the victim attempted to turn around — at which point the assailant fired “at least one round,” striking the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect then fled westbound on Montecito, away from the victim, who was not injured. Said suspect is described as being a “White or Hispanic male in his thirties or forties,” with a receding hairline. His vehicle is described as having been a newer model, silver in color.

The investigation is ongoing. Police have yet to determine a motive.

The Sonoma County Alliance “Take Back Our Community Program” is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
