SBSD Announces Results of Operation Desert Guardian

Guns and money seized during Operation Desert Guardian

SAN BERNARDINO – The cities of Apple Valley, Hesperia, Victorville, and Adelanto pooled their resources to fund Operation Desert Guardian in an attempt to conduct criminal suppression operations.

San Bernardino County’s First District Supervisor also allocated funds for the operation.

It began on June 2 of this year, and the SBSD recently announced its results on September 16 after 20 operations associated with the overall effort were conducted.

SBSD declared a total of 834 arrests (150 felony and 684 misdemeanors), including that of homicide suspect Johnny Brown.

21 firearms were seized as well as a large volume of various drugs:

  • 71 grams of meth,
  • 29 grams of cocaine,
  • 6 grams of heroin/PCP,
  • 20 grams of honey oil, and
  • 1.59 pounds of marijuana.

In addition, authorities also seized 13 stolen vehicles and $30,000 in cash.

Sheriff John McMahon said, “We are very fortunate to have the support of the Board of Supervisors which, allows us to conduct these proactive enforcement operations. Twenty-one firearms were seized, making the streets a little safer for residents.  Public safety continues to be a priority for all of us.”
