BENICIA // Just before 9 PM on September 30th, a Benicia PD officer conducted a traffic stop on Lake Herman Road after noticing a vehicle with no plates.

The passenger, identified as 40-year-old Jonathan Gardner of Oakland, turned out to be on probation out of Contra Costa County, as well as having two warrants for his arrest. As such, he was expressly forbidden from owning the loaded handgun that was later found in his pocket.

He was arrested and booked for “felon in possession of handgun, felon in possession of ammunition, and probation violation.” He is housed at the county jail.
