2 Weeks After Stabbing, Suspect Arrested

Tyler Vanwinkle

TURLOCK — 21-year-old Salida resident Tyler Vanwinkle was arrested on Wednesday for attempted murder.  His arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Tuesday, September 12.

Early on the morning of the 12th the TPD responded to a call of a stabbing in the 400 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

Police discovered a victim who had been stabbed several times.  Their investigation led to the identification of Vanwinkle as the suspect in the assault.

Six days later, the suspect’s picture was given to the patrol division and that is when, a few days hence, an officer spotted someone on the 500 block of N. Golden State who resembled the man in the photo.

The officer detained the man, who identified himself as Vanwinkle, and he was promptly arrested and charged with attempted murder.
