Burglary Spree Suspect Arrested

Aspenn G. Jones

IRVINE — An arrest on Sunday of a burglary suspect led to the solving of at least 10 other burglaries in Irvine.

Early on Sunday morning, September 3rd, officers from the IPD responded to a break-in report on Reggio Aisle and, when they arrived, found three female juveniles — and stolen property in their possession.

Soon after, 18-year-old Rialto resident Aspenn Jones also came up on them, sweating and out of breath.  Next, a resident also joined the gathering, telling officers he had just chased Jones from his house on nearby Santorini.

Turns out Jones had entered the home on Santorini, confronted a female resident and demanded her car keys.  The resident alerted other family members, who then chased Jones out of the house and into the presence of law enforcement.

Once in custody, Jones copped to 10 other home burglaries as well as a residential burglary on San Remo in September 1st.

He is held on $250,000 bail and is being charged with home invasion, residential burglary, and other charges.
