INDIO – Early on Friday morning officers with the Indio Police Department spotted a 2016 Toyota Camry speeding at over 100 mph eastbound on Interstate 10.

The officers soon thereafter executed an enforcement stop of the vehicle and discovered that 62-year-old Sergio Peregrina was driving on a suspended license.

In addition, he was carrying a stolen loaded handgun.  The biggest discovery, however, was when officials impounded and searched the vehicle.

Inside the Camry the suspect was transporting 44 pounds of methamphetamine.

Peregrina was arrested for transportation of drugs, possession of a stolen handgun and driving under a suspended license.
