Bow and Arrow Murder Nets Life Sentence

Garrett Taylor Adams

LANCASTER — Once again, one man is dead and another man is in prison for life due to unrestrained anger.

Over three years ago, 23-year-old Charles Briggs lost his life after an argument escalated into violence.

26-year-old Garrett Taylor Adams was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison for killing Briggs with a bow and arrow.

On August 23, 2014, Adams got into an argument with his girlfriend in their home.  Adams’ brother and Briggs, who was an acquaintance, tried to stop the fight.

Adams then got a compound bow with a razor-tipped hunting arrow and threatened Briggs.  Testimony at the trial revealed that Adams followed Briggs down the street and shot him in the chest with the arrow, killing him.

A conviction in this case came on May 22 of this year.
