Reality Show Winner Charged with Domestic Violence

Joshua Demon Allen

LOS ANGELES — 28-year-old Joshua Demon Allen was the winner in season 4 of the television competition “So You Think You Can Dance?” which aired in 2008.

However, his recent claim to fame occurred under the auspices of the LA County District of Attorney’s Office, in which he pleaded no contest to willfully injuring his girlfriend and assault with a deadly weapon.  The weapon was a glass vase.

After assaulting and strangling his ex-girlfriend in April of 2016, Allen again attacked the victim in June of that year while the first case was still pending. In the second incident, the victim ran to a coffee shop nearby.

Allen followed her into the shop and threw a glass vase at a woman who tried to help the victim.  Another man tried to intervene and was also attacked.

The angry dancer proceeded to vandalize the shop before other bystanders subdued him until authorities could arrive.

Allen was sentenced to one year in county jail, 5 years of formal probation, and 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling.  He was also ordered to stay away from the victim for 10 years.
