Gang Member Charged in Woman’s April Murder

FRESNO — In the early morning hours (1:30 AM) of April 19, 23-year-old Sierra Berg was driving her car when she drove up onto the curb on the 4700 block of E. Hedges Avenue.

The FPD had received calls of gunshots in the area and, when they responded, they found Hedges in the driver’s seat of her car, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Immediate CPR and  additional assistance provided at the hospital were not enough to save her life.

The ensuing investigation revealed that there had been some sort of disturbance the previous day in the area involving a male and as “associate” of the victim.

After 3 more months of investigation, the FPD named 35-year-old Eladio Zambrano as the suspect in the murder.

Zambrano happened to currently already be in custody on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.  The self-admitted gang member was additionally charged with Hedges’ murder.
