FREMONT — On July 16th at around 7 AM, patrol officers arrived at a residence in the Mission Boulevard area to investigate a suspected arson.

The owner of the home told officers that a stranger had burned the American flag hanging out front. Crime scene investigators and Fremont Fire were soon on the scene to gather evidence.

Initial investigation revealed that there were, fortunately, several homes in the area equipped with surveillance cameras.

Footage obtained shows a vehicle pull to the curb at around 3:50 AM (below). An unknown subject is seen exiting the car, then running back and speeding away a short time later.

The vehicle is described as a light-colored (possibly silver) 2016-17 four-door Honda Civic with dark-tinted rear windows.

Detectives are asking that anyone who feels they may have relevant information contact Detective Travis MacDonald at (510) 790 – 6900.

Fremont PD notes that the time-stamp on the surveillance video is off by one hour.
