Two Arrested for Allegedly Robbing Man Seeking Sexual Relations

Extended Stay in Fremont

FREMONT – A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of robbery and prostitution on July 2, after another man reported being robbed two days earlier when he met with a woman for sexual relations at a hotel room.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Extended Stay America hotel located at 5375 Farwell Place, where a man said he was robbed of his cash by another man who forced his way into a room.

The victim told police officers that he responded to a classified ad on Backpage.com to arrange a meeting with a woman on June 30. Shortly after the victim arrived, another man entered the room at approximately 11 p.m., brandished a handgun, and robbed him, according to police.

The suspects Malina N. Acosta, 26, of San Leandro, and her associate Rayshaud P. Warner, 29, of Sacramento, were detained at the same hotel on July 2 at 11:18 a.m., and taken to the Fremont police station for questioning.

Acosta was arrested on suspicion of robbery and prostitution. However, Acosta was later only charged with first degree robbery. She’s being held at Fremont Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Warner was arrested on suspicion of robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, false imprisonment, and a probation violation. However, Warner was later only charged with first degree robbery, petty theft, and public drunkenness. He’s in custody at Fremont Jail, with bail for his release set at $100,000.
