Domestic Abuse Ends Tragically for Upper Lake Woman

UPPER LAKE — One is dead and another in custody after a domestic violence incident on June 30th in Lake County.

On that day at around 2:15 PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the 7800 block of Bridge Arbor Road to investigate a report of a physical altercation between a man and a woman.

The first deputy on scene, arriving only five minutes after the first call, made contact with the man and woman through an open bedroom window. The deputy witnessed the man assaulting the woman and ordered him to stop, with which the man complied.

37-year-old Willy Tujays Timmons of Upper Lake was arrested.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Vanessa Yvette Niko of Upper Lake, was given first aid treatment but unfortunately died at the scene.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department notes in a press release that the two had an on-off relationship with a history of domestic violence and that they shared three children.

Timmons has been booked into Lake County Jail on a charge of murder, with bail set to $1,000,000.
