Hernandez, Morales and Tapia

HESPERIA — Early on the morning of March 7, the HPD was called to a vacant lot near 11th Avenue and Live Oak Street.  The report said that an unresponsive male was lying in the lot.

Upon arrival, they discovered that 33-year-old Juan (Johnny) Ochoa was dead from gunshot wounds.

As the investigation began, police quickly arrested 36-year-old Moises Morales on March 9 and 23-year-old Kevin Tapia on March 15.

Some time elapsed before a third suspect, 29-year-old Leonel Hernandez, was arrested on June 17.  All three are charged with murder.

While Hernandez’ bail is $1 million, the other two have a bail of $1.5 million set.

All three have their next court dates on June 22.
