LODI — On May 19th, officers arrived on the 800 block of South Cherokee Lane to find 39-year-old Octavio Carrillo running down the middle of the road.

Carrillo approached a stopped car and yanked on the handle, but the driver hit the gas and fled. Officers continued to approach Carrillo, noting his erratic behavior and finding it to be consistent with the influence of a controlled substance.

Officers were eventually able to take him into custody, though not without a fight.

Once at Lodi City Jail, Carrillo repeatedly tried to break the glass of the men’s holding cell and was eventually moved to a safety cell and constrained using “WRAP” methods. During the ordeal, he reportedly made threats to officers’ lives.
