Homicide Suspect Takes Own Life after Car Chase

LINCOLN — Investigators from three separate agencies — Lincoln PD, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, and Placer County DA’s Office — believe they have identified a possible suspect in a homicide which occurred on the morning of May 17th.

His vehicle was discovered on eastbound I-80 in Placer County, at which point officers tried to conduct a stop. The driver fled and a chase ensued, with the driver believed to be armed and dangerous.

Spike strips were deployed and the vehicle was brought to a stop just west of Hirschdale Road.

When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered the driver dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect is identified as 31-year-old Jerrod Hill of El Dorado Hills. The victim was identified as 35-year-old Renee Sue O’Neal of Lincoln.
