Traffic Stop Yields Nine Charges

PORTERVILLE — Late Friday afternoon, detectives attempted to stop a vehicle in the 1600 block of West Putnam Avenue.

The driver did not stop and led officers on a pursuit.  The chase ended at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of West Olive Avenue.

Next, the suspect ran into his apartment.  Authorities contacted a female who was also in the apartment with a child, in order to begin a search of the premises.

Once inside, they discovered a 12-gauge shotgun, meth, and drug paraphernalia.  They also found and arrested 38-year-old Jamie Escalera, currently on probation.

Escalera faces a host of charges that include reckless evading, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, child endangerment, possession of meth, DUI, resisting a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a felony warrant.
