Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested in Mexico

Fabian Villa

SANTA ANA — On December 27, 2016, on the 1600 block of Pacific Avenue, a woman parking her car was attacked by a man as he opened her driver’s side door.

The suspect exposed himself and attempted to sexually assault her.  The woman screamed and kicked to the point where the suspect fled.

Investigators obtained DNA from the car and, after analyzing it, identified 28-year-old Fabian Villa as the perpetrator.

Two other women who had also experienced indecent exposure from Villa came forward after seeing the press release about this attack.

Detectives located the stolen Toyota Camry that Villa had been driving, abandoned in San Diego with Villa’s ID in it.

Further investigation revealed that he had fled to Mexico.  US Marshals worked with Mexican officials to locate and arrest Villa, who was returned to the US on April 13th.

With a $1 million bail, Fabian Villa faces charges of assault with the intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon, auto theft, receiving stolen property and indecent exposure.
