Man with Marijuana Unsuccessfully tries to Evade Police

Emtwon Joseph James Anderson

FRESNO — Early on Tuesday morning, a Fresno patrol officer noticed a Toyota Camry breeze by a school bus as it was stopped with its lights flashing and children departing.

The officer tried to stop the Camry but it did not stop at first.

A “slow speed chase” then followed.  However, the pursuing officer went after the driver as he turned against a red light and was struck by another motorist, whose air bag deployed as they struck a signal pole.

The fleeing driver continued on, but when he stopped behind a bus, a plainclothes officer detained him.

30-year-old Emtwon Joseph James Anderson was arrested and charged with DUI, felony probation violation, evading a police officer, and possession of marijuana.

Anderson was on felony probation for a gun violation.
