A man in Madera has been arrested after being pulled over for reckless driving and being found to have open containers in his vehicle.

According to Madera Police Cpl. Josh Chavez, the suspect — identified as Edgar Cortez — was picked up by police after doing circles in an intersection on North D Street.

After being pulled over, Cortez was reportedly found to have open alcohol containers in his vehicle and was two times over the legal limit for blood alcohol content. Cortez was also found to have a suspended license.

“Operating a vehicle is dangerous in and of itself,” Chavez said, “Adding alcohol makes for a potential deadly situation.”
