21-Year-Old Found Guilty in Beating Death of Disabled Man

LOS ANGELES — It has been over two years since 43-year-old Eddie Ray Smith was beaten to death in Crenshaw Park.

On Wednesday his killer, 21-year-old Tyshaun Vasquez, was sentenced after being found guilty on February 24th of second-degree murder in the incident.

The Rancho Cienega Sports Complex Park on the 5000 block of Rodea Road was the scene of the murder.  Testimony revealed that Vasquez stomped on Smith’s head around 20 times and punched him in the face 15 times.

He was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
