Marijuana Grow and Sales Stopped at Porterville House

PORTERVILLE — An investigation by PPD began on January 17th, prompted by a package that two people were trying to ship to New York. The package contained six pounds of marijuana, and the police were contacted.

In spite of the false names they provided, one of the two was successfully identified as 49-year-old Maria Cristina Garcia.

Then, last Thursday, as police were conducting surveillance on Garcia, they saw her get into a vehicle which they stopped soon afterwards.

A search of the vehicle revealed another package – seven pounds of processed marijuana.  With a search warrant for her home, they further discovered another twelve pounds of processed marijuana, 120 marijuana plants, and four guns.

Garcia was booked for possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana, and cultivation of marijuana.
