SALINAS — Police have arrested 23-year-old Tai Cruz of Salinas after a year-long investigation through numerous leads that eventually led to the issuing of a $2.2 million warrant.

On the night of January 19th, the parents of 18-year-old Paulino Guzman III reported that he’d been missing since December 12, 2015. Police believed that he went missing after attending a party at an apartment complex on the 2200 block of North Main.

Over the course of the year that followed, police moved through various leads that involved interviews and searches, from which they were able to draw enough information to secure an arrest warrant for Cruz.

Cruz was located at his place of employment in Monterey and arrested without incident on Friday. He has been charged with one count of homicide and is housed at the Monterey County Jail. The body of Guzman has yet to be found.
