Homeowner Holds Burglary Suspect at Gunpoint

Johnathon Jermaine Willis

FRESNO — A burglar probably thought he might carry out a successful theft at a home on the 3800 block of East Pratt Avenue on Thursday morning.  Instead, he encountered an armed homeowner intent on lawfully stopping him.

23-year-old Johnathon Jermaine Willis broke into a garage containing two motorcycles and purportedly was pushing them to the door to steal them.

The homeowner encountered Willis as he was talking on his cell phone.  The homeowner, armed with a handgun, ordered Willis to the ground and then ironically called the police from Willis’ phone.

Police discovered that Willis broke into the garage through a window and then broke the door from the inside.  He was already on parole for burglary, and now faces charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and parole violation.
