PALM SPRINGS – An adventurous pursuit ended in the predictable arrest of the man who fled from police.

It started around 4:00 PM  on Thursday, January 5th, during a traffic stop near Alejo Road and N. Palm Canyon.  Anderzel Handel Lopez Morales presented his drivers license to police at the stop but then he tried to drive away.  A detective tried to hang onto the fleeing car but let go before experiencing serious injury.

Morales crashed his car and then ran away.  Police attempted a search for him, with the assistance of K9s and a CHP helicopter.

However, they were unable to find Morales and called off the search.  While marked PSPD vehicles left the area, unmarked cars remained close by.

Around 8:00 PM, a homeowner spotted someone hiding in a small shed-type of building, who then ran away.  It was discovered to be Morales, and soon thereafter he was arrested.  His refusal to comply merited the use of a taser.

The 31-year-old Morales faces several felony charges.
