BUENA PARK — The BPPD lists this as a “while you were sleeping” incident. As police were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a U-Haul Chevy pickup, it took off and the chase began.
The pickup stopped briefly, discharged a passenger, and continued on its attempted escape.
The chase lasted an hour, from about midnight to 1:00 AM, after beginning at Beach Boulevard and Auto Center Drive. The chase extended through multiple counties, with assistance from the Orange County SD.
Finally, while driving through a construction zone, the driver of the pickup crashed into a barrier and tried to run away.
Instead, Frank Woods of Anaheim got his booking photo taken and was charged with felony evading.
The discharged passenger remains at large.
