San Jose Police locate and arrest three homicide suspects during holidays

SAN JOSE  — The San Jose Police Department has announced the arrest of three suspects wanted in connection to the city’s 39th homicide of the year.

According to San Jose Police Sgt. Enrique Garcia, “Follow-up investigation from homicide detectives led to the identification and arrest of three suspects involved in the homicide.”

After a two-month long investigation, suspects 20-year-old Marcos Antonio Jimenez, 19-year-old Marco Antonio Ruiz, and 19-year-old Suzette Angel Campos have been taken into custody and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on murder charges.

According to police, Campos was arrested on December 22, 2016, with Ruiz being arrested on December 28, 2016. Both suspects were arrested in San Jose.

The investigation into the homicide began back on October 19, 2016, at 8:42 PM, with San Jose Police officers being dispatched to the Regional Medical Center on a reports of a juvenile male being shot. Arriving officers were soon informed that Umberto Salas was deceased.

Witnesses at the scene of the shooting reported that they were at the Dove Hill Park (Ravens Place Way and Muir Place) when the suspects tried to rob Salas and a friend while they were  seated in a car, and then they began fighting.

“One of the suspects assaulted Victim #2, who is an adult male, and the other suspect shot Victim Salas,” Garica said. “Victim #2 suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both suspects (at that time) fled the scene and have not been identified or apprehended.”
