OROVILLE — Local man Ronnie Johnson had a busy New Year’s weekend.

On December 29th at around 5 PM, Butte County Sheriff’s Office SWAT was called upon to assist Oroville police after negotiations with a wanted suspect, later identified as Johnson (51), began to break down.

Johnson — wanted for domestic violence, kidnapping, and false imprisonment charges — stood off with police at his motor home on the 100 block of Fairhill Drive. He’d apparently locked himself inside and was refusing to come out.

SWAT arrived and deployed gas into the home to try and flush him out, but Johnson instead threw it in reverse and backed right into an OPD vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Authorities were finally able to gain entry and detain him, along with three others, then take him into custody.
