Man Arrested For Stealing ATV

David Williams

On December 29th, a man was seen riding a red ATV on the streets in Yreka. According to the California agricultural inspection station, a red ATV was reported driving past them earlier in the day on I-5. A few hours later, an officer noticed the red ATV on Broadway Street, turning westbound on Center Street.

The officer noticed that the driver of the red ATV was not wearing a helmet. The officer then proceeded to pull the vehicle over.

When the man pulled over into a parking lot, he made a left turn signal in a similar fashion as someone would make riding a bike.

The officer reported that the conversation with the man was normal, but that some of the information provided raised his suspicions. It was determined that the ATV was not registered in California, the man had a suspended driver’s license, and the man could not give a definitive answer of who the ATV belonged to. Based on this evidence, the officer determined that the man stole the ATV and arrested him.

The man was identified as 35-year-old David Williams.

The Yreka PD investigated the incident and it was determined that the ATV was stolen by Williams from the Ashland, OR area.

Authorities are working to get the ATV back to it’s owner at this time.
