Elderly Woman Identifies Attacker for Police to Arrest

Minor was arrested near here

CONCORD – An 80-year-old woman who was attacked outside her front door on Tuesday morning, fought off and later identified her assailant to police, who arrested a suspect shortly afterwards—Steven Minor, 49, a local resident.

Concord police officers were dispatched to a home located on Graymont Circle on December 27, after receiving a call that an attempted robbery involving an assault had occurred there at roughly 9 o’clock.

The victim told officers that she was returning home from a walk when she was approached by the suspect, who tried to steal her purse, but she resisted him and he ran away. Police said the victim was sexually battered over her clothing, but not seriously injured.

A Walnut Creek officer heard a Concord police radio description of the suspect and detained him, nearby at the intersection of Oak Grove Road and Treat Boulevard.

Minor is charged with battery, attempted robbery, elder abuse, and sexual battery. He’s in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility for $203,000 bail.
